Co-working space at Mark Addy

I designed a co-working space at the old Mark Addy Riverside Pub in Manchester. The building is long and narrow and has architectural arches inside which give so much character to the building and make it feel cosy. I have decided to go for a 'biophilic design' theme for this project. I think this style fits best with the building thanks to its great location on the riverside. The space is bright and cosy, users will feel comfortable whilst working here. It will be flooded with natural light thanks to the great glass hubs, overlooking the River Irwell. There will be lots of private rooms and corners for when people need to make a private phone call, meeting or a presentation. I will keep the large atrium with the staircase, however, I will change the facade and the overall shape of it for a modern feel to fit in with the surrounding architecture in Deansgate.

My overall design incorporates wood and warm colours, as well as plants, as these produce oxygen which helps us concentrate and feel energized. There will, of course, be 24/7 access to Bee Work as all people work differently, this will also mean that users are getting the maximum usage of this space. My co-working space is also dog friendly. Lots of people own dogs and cannot bring them to work with them. this space is different, there will be dog beds available to borrow for your furry friend to have a nap whilst you work. Many people also own ‘anxiety dogs’ which help them concentrate and stay calm.
