Since were in another lockdown, it means I have a lot more time for walks in the countryside. It’s the perfect time for another DIY wreath as all the leaves are starting to fall or most have fallen and have beautiful golden and amber colours. I have been bringing the leaves home with me from my walks and thought I would make a very simple and eco-friendly wreath for the front door!
I started by getting a metal wreath ring from the craft store, and used it as a base to lay out my leaves. I then used the twine to secure the leave stems to the ring, laying them over each other to fill in any gaps. Once the wreath was covered in leaves I flipped it over and added hay to help the leaves stay in place as well as to fill in any gaps which I might have missed.
I then started decorating he wreath with the berry branches and again using twine to secure this to the base of the wreath. If you can’t find any berry branches or other decorations, you can leave your wreath plain, or add some pumpkins made from clay, or even some dried or artificial flowers such as dahlias or chrysanthemums for a pop of colour.
Things you will need:
· Metal wreath ring (can get one from local craft shop)
· Leaves (fresh are easier to work with but dried will also work)
· Twine
· Hay or straw
For extra decoration:
· Holly berry branches or any orange/red berry branches, can be real or fake
· Pine cones
· Cockers (can paint them orange to replicate mini pumpkins)
