Today I watched a talk on Dezeen who invited Knud Erik Hansen, he is the CEO of the 110 year old Danish company Carl Hansen & Son for a live talk to talk about how that have become so popular, with shops all over the world.
Erik mentioned that in March 2020 they panicked due to the pandemic as they had to send over 90 staff home, but it is also the year they sold the largest amount of furniture as people were spending a lot kore time at home and were ordering their furniture so they had to expand their staff in the factory to keep up with the orders.
This talk was interesting as I got to learn more about international design and get to know the history behind this company and how they have become so successful.
Erik thinks that simple design is the future of design as more countries such as Italy and America are following the trend of Scandinavian design, he believes that this style is the most popular design and that Danish design will continue to be successful in the interior design world.
